I am open to be corrected on this but I believe if you choose "embedded firstname.lastname@example.org" and publish it, another user who accesses the view will need to have the saved credentials for that email@example.com account associated with their user (which is probably unlikely they will have this if its another user) as per Manage Credentials - Tableau
However if you choose "Embedded Password" it does not require the account saved credentials and will just display the view/allow user to subscribe.
So if you are catering to Viewers I would choose "Embedded Password"

Thank you for your prompt response. That is an interesting thought. Though, my users are able to see and connect to the content just fine. The only change is that the subscribe button appears with the embedded password option and disappears with the embedded email option. Subscriptions used to work just fine and I have been using the embedded email option since I started which I guess I forgot to mention was 2 years ago.
Does the issue reproduce on demand for you? For example if you created a brand new workbook using "embed firstname.lastname@example.org" and publish to Tableau Online do you see no subscribe button every time?
I think the best option would be to create a support case so we can look at your workbooks specifically
As I stated, somewhat poorly, in the original post, I could make it go away and come back with consistency in the problem workbook. For the purpose of fully answering your question "brand new workbook" I created a dummy workbook and could also consistently make the subscribe button appear and disappear by switching back and forth from embed password and embed email respectively. So yes, it is on demand.
I had figured this was such an easily repeatable/testable issue I wouldn't have needed to, but I will take your suggestion and submit a support case.
We are also experiencing this same issue. It's problematic when you are trying to automate processes. Is there any progress here? Has anyone put in a ticket?
