Dual Axis Symbol Maps with Different Data Sets

    David Miller

      Hi Tableau community,

I'm trying to overlay two symbol maps via dual axis, but it's not working for me. I'm attaching the packaged workbook below, but basically, I've got a big dataset (I'm calling it Sales) that I'm mapping via zip code to create a heat map. Then I'm wanting to overlay fixed areas (in this example, distribution centers) over top of it. I've got the lists in different data sources.

I need to be able to adjust sizes, colors, etc. of the shapes separately, which is why I'm wanting to use a dual axis.

I've created some maps through a workaround in the past, but it would save a lot of time in the long run if I can take our large data set (Sales) and map points on top of it from a different data set.

I think this shouldn't be very difficult, but nothing I've tried has worked. And other dual-axis discussions on this forum haven't worked for me either and don't seem to be about two symbol maps.

      Thanks!
