    Tabpy Data Privacy

    Damir Demirovic

Does using Tabpy in my Tableau Desktop workbook send my data somewhere externally where other people could potentially see it? In other words, If I'm analyzing internal organizational data should I steer away from using Tabpy?

          Hello Damir,

Tableau will send the data to the TabPy server, wherever it is running. You should always make sure the TabPy server is owned by you and running in a situation you trust if the data is sensitive. If you are running TabPy on the same machine as Tableau, the data should not leave your local machine unless sent by something in your Python code. You can protect against sending data externally with Python code by restricting network traffic on the machine where TabPy is running.
