      General Purpose


      As a member of the user experience (UX) team, the Data Visualization Designer is responsible for displaying data and information in understandable and usable ways for business decision-making. The primary role requirement is a strong skillset in user interface design – specifically, dashboard and reporting design and development (in Tableau, PowerBI, Spotfire, more). The ideal candidate has the ability to create visually compelling, interactive reports and dashboards communicating meaningful data insights. A portfolio reflecting these talents is required.


      This position will work within the Enterprise Data and Analytics team to influence analyst and developer work in clinical and financial areas with the objective to improve our stakeholder’s interactions with data for decision-making. Assignment of additional projects and requests related to user research may be assigned.


      Specific Responsibilities



      • Design dashboards and visualizations (commonly in Tableau).
      • Develop user interface designs based on a design system, usability results, and written requirements.
      • Demonstrate a rich sensitivity to the composition of user interface components (navigation, data tables, filters) and style (spacing, typography, color).
      • Design flow diagrams, wireframes, and high-fidelity screen designs to convey solutions and obtain stakeholder feedback.
      • Brainstorm, design, develop and evaluate effective data visualizations that are insightful, attractive, and usable in business decision-making.
      • Work with teammates to understand stakeholder analytic needs and user interactions to design and develop optimal solutions.
      • Actively participate in product development processes, including iterative prototyping, feedback cycles, and design reviews.



      • Develop and maintain standards for the development of design system (repository of reusable templates, more).
      • Monitoring feedback from usability sessions and surveys for improvements in product development.
      • Assist in training preparation and delivery to maximize user understanding and adoption.


      GENERAL: (10%)

      • Responsible for own work and meets established deadlines with professionalism while managing competing priorities.
      • Participates in learning opportunities, attends UX-related webinars, absorbs industry articles, and podcasts to further refine skills and stay apprised on data and analytics topics.
      • Builds and maintains internal departmental relationships.
      • Follows all ISD administrative standards (such as timely timesheet preparations, completing time away requests, completing annual mandatory educational requirements, etc.).
      • Adheres and subscribes to the ISD Values as stated in the Values Statement.




      • Bachelor’s degree in Design, User Experience Design, New Media Design, Visual Communications Design, Interactive Design, or related area.
      • 3-5 years' relevant work experience as a designer/developer with business intelligence, analytics, or reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Epic Reporting Workbench, Crystal Reports).
      • 3-5 years' experience with UX, UI, or visualization and analytics tools.
      • 3-5 years' experience with design tools (Sketch, Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop).
      • 3-5 years' experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Sharepoint.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
      • Ability and initiative to learn new technologies.
      • Understanding the value of customer relations management.
      • Ability to utilize agile approaches.


      Preferred Skills/Experience


      • Ability to research source data and design of queries and/or ETL jobs that bring data into Tableau.
      • Understanding the value of customer relations management.
