I think that article is a bit out of date so I'm going to request this be updated. Thanks for bringing that to our attention!
In the meantime here are a few ways I would recommend:
- Tableau Server REST API - The Query User On Site method should allow you to retrieve the information you need
- Admin Insights - Using the TS Users data source in the Admin Insights project you could create a custom admin view including a list of your users and you can export that as you would with any view as a PDF, CSV, Image, Crosstab etc.

The information on REST API is overwhelming and it would certainly take some time to learn and implement.
I followed the second option of using 'Admin Insights' available under Site Status. This worked! Thank you again for the quick help!
Below are the 4 steps that I performed in order to export the user list onto .csv (just in case for future references for our community)
