Combined CSV Files: Some Lines are Multiplied

    Dylan Layman

      Hey guys,

I'm new to Tableau and am currently having an issue with getting two CSV files to connect and aggregate correctly.

For some context: I have matched the two documents with fields that contain order numbers, some of which appear more than once in my source CSV files, so there isn't a unique key for each row. (Not exactly sure if this matters, I'm very new to the world of data)

The problem I'm experiencing: When I match the two files together, order numbers that only appear once in my source file seem to flow correctly into my Tableau spreadsheet. However, when I come across a Sales Order Number that appears multiple times in my source document, the rows it represents seems to be squared in my Tableau file; for example, if a Sales Order Number appears on 5 lines in my source document, it shows up 25 times in Tableau.

I've tried my best to decipher why this is happening, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      Thanks,

      Dylan
