Please try to open the viz with that URL directly using the VizAlerts run as user…if you’re still getting the 500 error then it’s a Tableau Server issue, not something in VizAlerts.
I am not able to get you .You mean running the vizalert as adminstrator.
I am new to tableau and couldn't understand much. Can you please elobrate what is the viz url that I have to open
Here's how to test this out:
1) In the VizAlerts vizalerts.yaml file there's a server.user username. Find that username.
2) In a web browser login to Tableau Server as that user.
3) Go to the URL that you got in the failure email. This now mimics what VizAlerts is doing (login to Tableau & go to a given URL). One of two things will happen:
a) You get an error (the same 500 error or something else). In that case you'll need to make sure make sure that the ScheduledTriggerView viz has been published, and that the user has permissions on the ScheduledTriggerView viz, and work things out so that your logged in as user can actually access this viz.
b) You get no error at all and instead get a .csv file. The CSV file will be empty if you haven't set up any VizAlerts schedules & subscriptions to those schedules. If this is the case then you can try running VizAlerts again and it should work.
Let us know how it goes!
Usually if you get an error like this just trying to pull down the ScheduledTriggerViews viz, it's because the password to the PostgreSQL repository was not embedded in the connection when the workbook was published. But Step 3 of Jonathan's helpful reply (thank you!) will show that for sure. Have you been able to resolve this, Sonali?
