Google OAuth issue on Tableau 2019.1 and Windows

    Jozsi G.

      Hello,

We are experiencing an issue similar to the one reported in Web Data Connector browser issues

Our web data connector clients running 2019.1 on Windows can not authorize their Google account. The symptom is a bit different: the authorization window is correctly rendered, the user can input or select the email address but upon pressing the "Next" button (which would ask for the password or to confirm the list of requested permissions), the authorization flow is interrupted and the user is taken back to the web data connector.

On Windows 2018.3 it works correctly, while on Mac both 2019.1 and 2018.3 work.

We've got multiple complaints from our clients regarding this issue.

      Technical observations:

      User agent with bug:

      Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/538.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Tableau/2019.1 Version/7.0 Safari/538.1

      User agents that work:

      Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/538.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Tableau/2018.3 Safari/538.1

      Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_14_4) AppleWebKit/538.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Tableau/2019.1 Safari/538.1

      Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_14_4) AppleWebKit/538.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Tableau/2018.3 Safari/538.1

      Observations:

      - they all use the same, old WebKit engine and not the new/experimental one

      - the bugged user agent has an extra "Version/7.0"

The login prompt is different for the bugged scenario, both visually, as well as the link, which starts with:

      https://accounts.google.com/signin/oauth/identifier

compared to the older, working versions that start with:

      https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin

I wonder if the new Google Ads connector has anything to do with this.

      Thanks,

      Józsi
