    WDC with permanent token auto-refresh

    Andrey Razumovsky

We are building Web Data Connector for Tableau and have some questions regarding authorization and auto-refresh. We use OAuth authentication which provides access token (that expires) and refresh token (that never expires). It all works well in Tableau Desktop, but there are issues with auto-update which I think are mentioned in Tableau documentation.

Given that we have a token that never expires (refresh token), is there a way for user to publish our connector from Desktop to Online or Bridge so that this non-expiring token is saved into the connector state and used for auto-update? Or what options of auto-refresh can you recommend for our WDC architecture?

So far we only tried refreshing from Online and that failed without giving away any specific reasons of the failure. Is there a way to see logs as to why it failed?
