# Single chart to show results from multiple regression correlations

Hi All,

I've been hitting my head against the monitor trying to make this work.

I am doing a presentation where I want to discuss the correlation of one measure against multiple other measures.  I've represented the problem in the attached workbook using Superstore.

Rather than showing correlations individually (Comparison Dashboard) and then manually going to the trend line to show correlation measures, I'd like to develop a single chart that allows me to compare the correlation measures with each other (Desired Outcome).  So far, all I've done is spin my wheels.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much!

You can get them all into a single chart as shown below. But, you may need to ensure that all the numbers have the same units relatively.

Updated workbook attached. Hope this helps.

Thanks Hari,

My main goal is to be able to present the correlation metrics, not the correlations.  In addition, there is a large range in numeric ranges among measures.

Cheers.

Well Paul, as far as you have the correlation metrics as measures, you would be able to get them into a single chart as shown. Now, coming to the correlation metrics, you may be having some formulas for the regression which need recursion and you cannot use them in Tableau unless you integrate with R or Python. Now, if you can integrate with R or Python, you can get the correlation metrics as individual measures and proceed from there.

Thanks Hari,

I think we can might be able to get a lot of the way in Tableau.  (e.g., Formula for R2 and P values for Trend Lines ),  Definitely appreciate your looking at this.

Cheers!

You are welcome. If you need anything else let me know. Otherwise please close this thread.

Hi All,

I'm still struggling with this challenge and would appreciate any help!  For sure, the suggested approach of showing multiple correlations does not get me where I hope to go.  Neither does the suggestion of going out to R (I'm hoping for something that can be published on Tableau Public).

Note also, the actual measures for which I seek to gain correlation metrics for to display are representative of those in the sample workbook.  The are LOD aggregations which seem to blow away Tableau Corr functions.

Any help is greatly apprecited!
