# Calculation behind the 'automatic' grand total

So could anyone explain to me the calculation behind the 'automatic' 'total using' because it does not make sense to me.

The attachment shows absolute values and a percentage.

Currently the grand total of the percentage shows 74% which is calculated using 'automatic'.

But when calculated the average of all the percentages it gets to 72%.

Even worse, when I calculate the weighted average of the percentage (absolute number*percentage and then divide the total of that by the total of the absolute number) I get to 77%.

Hello Sander

What does the % value represent? What is the relation between this % and the value to the left?

Best regards

Rodrigo

The % represents the % budgetted amount of orders that should arrive on time, each productgroup has his own budget and we retrieve this information out of an excel file we connected to our main data (an SQL server extract).

The value to the left is the budgetted amount of orders that should arrive on time. It's a calculated field total orders*the percentage.

So for the first productgroup the total orders were 1717*75%=1288
