I want to bring an SQL query (data set) into Tableau. The SQL query has multiple INNER JOINS. When I run it in Teradata, there are 233,000 records.
Next, in Tableau, I've connected to the database and table.
Can I simply do #1, #2 or other?
1 Go to 'Data' > <Name> > 'Query Branding and Initial SQL' and put the SQL query there
2. Do # 1 AND drag-and-drop the drag and drop tables and connect the tables in the section called 'Drag tables here'
# 2 is an option, but you'd then have to configure your joins manually. I actually prefer this method over custom SQL, but it can take a bit of time. Otherwise, you can use custom SQL. Here's how: Connect to a Custom SQL Query - Tableau
