Tim van den Bergh Nov 20, 2018 7:33 AM (in response to Swaminathan Jayaraman)Hey Swaminathan,
I am looking to make something like below, but then with the map of Barcelona and the increase in rent. However, whatever I do I can seem to be able to turn the years into filters, which seems very crucial to do somehow. Would you know how to get to this?
And thank you so much for the quick respons! That really means a lot to me!

5. Re: Showing average increase in rental over years per neighbourhood on city map
Swaminathan Jayaraman Nov 20, 2018 7:53 AM (in response to Tim van den Bergh)I found the dashboard you are using for reference. To achieve what you are looking for, I believe you need to restructure your data with a date/year column so that you can add it in the pages section of your workbook. Please find the image below to understand what I'm taking about.
To attach a packaged workbook Click on 'Advanced Editor and add attachment' then you'll have the option to attach a .twbx file.
Also, Please take a look at Calculate year-to-year population change on map with filter . Seems like this is what you are after. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Swami

Swaminathan Jayaraman Nov 20, 2018 3:01 PM (in response to Tim van den Bergh)Yup. It is good. I was wondering if you could attach the .geojson file as well.
To pivot your data, Go to Data tab-> Hold control key and click on all the year columns -> right click and select pivot -> then change the year column type to date.

8. Re: Showing average increase in rental over years per neighbourhood on city map
Swaminathan Jayaraman Nov 20, 2018 3:10 PM (in response to Tim van den Bergh)I have created the same using Parameters where you don't have to pivot the data. The labels need a little adjusting and moving around.
Hope this solves your issue. Let me know if you have any questions.
If this helped resolve your issue, I'd really appreciate it if you could mark this as answer and close the thread. It'll help others facing similar issue.

9. Re: Showing average increase in rental over years per neighbourhood on city map
Tim van den Bergh Nov 21, 2018 7:17 AM (in response to Swaminathan Jayaraman)Hey Swaminathan,
I had a look, so cool that you got all the percentage changes to show on the map! However, they all show that rent is decreasing, while when you look at the data you see that the rent in all the neighbourhoods is increasing!
I did as you say and pivoted the data in order to create a years filter, I did this in Tableau prep and just to simplify it I did it with only the data of 2016/ 2017. (See attached file). However the issue then is that the different years disappear as a calculated field, so I can't make it into a slider anymore, as there is now just a calculated field with rent that includes all the different years compiled, which can then be filtered out by using the years filter created via pivoting. So now I need to find a way to just take the two years, calculate the increase in rent in percentage between 2016 and 2017 and then connect that to the GeoData (which is in the attached file as well, but I have included also a separate neighbourhood.geojson)
Wish this could be resolved via a skype call, such a complex program for beginners!
Thanks again for all the help so far, really making my day!
Cheers,
