Multiple trend lines on same dimension (line graph)

    Evan Letzter

I'm creating a graph to show how the NBA's 3PTA shooting changed over time and I'd like to show two linear trend lines on the same dimension, one for the dates between 1/1/1998 and 1/1/2011, and one between 1/1/2011 and 1/1/2018; having two lines on the same measure is meant to show the differences between these two date ranges. I attached the twb file. How can this be done?

          Hi Evan ,

Create two calculated fields for two different ranges

          1) Range between 1/1/1998 and 1/1/2011:

IF DATE >=1/1/1998 and DATE <1/1/2011

          THEN

          3PTA

          END

          2) Range Between 1/1/2011 and 1/1/2018:

IF DATE >=1/1/2011 and DATE <1/1/2018

          THEN

          3PTA

          END

          1) Drag the field to the column which you want as x-axis

          2) measure names to filter and select Range between 1/1/1998 and 1/1/2011 and Range Between 1/1/2011 and 1/1/2018 calc fields

          3) Drag the measure values to rows

          4) Drag the measure values to color in marks section

Now you can see two different line in different colors

          Hope this helps
