# How do you display just the grade level associated with the MAX value

I have a scenario -- there are three dimensions being dragged to Rows one by one by order, and the last dimension is a grade level with multiple values levels associated with different sales amts. Any way to JUST display the grade level associated with the MAX([sales amts]), but still show the SUM([sales amts]) associated with all levels of grade? Using LOD but how are the steps?

Thanks millions!!

Use Dimension 1 which is not your Last Grade Level Dimension, I assume that this Dimension has many grades in your last Dimension.

IF {FIXED Dim1:MAX(Sales)}=Sales Then Grade Level End

This will display the grade level associated with the MAX([sales amts])

I ran into the issue -- the grade level shows all NULL values, so it seems that the {fixed...} = [salesAmt] will never be true.

Is that because ...= [salesAmt] ACTUALLY takes the SUM([salesAmt]), so they will never be equal? How to fix?

Thx for ur inputs!!

Hi Elle,

Do you have some fake data set to help you or a workbook?

Thanks

Yes, [Grade Level] has multiple values, associated with diff't [salesAmt] amounts

Columns: SUM([salesAmt])

Rows:

ABC                       AAA                   1

EFG                       BBB                    2

HJK                       CCC                    3

[Revised Grade Level] is the cal. field --

if {Fixed [Customer Name], [Business Type]  : Max([salesAmt])} = [salesAmt] then [Grade Level] end
