Currently, extensions do not work for Reader but we are working on fixing it
Hi Keshia --
Is this fix for Reader still in progress, and is there a defined target release for it?
As a related note, I'm wondering if there's any way of avoiding the "Extension requires configuring" alert each time I load the workbook in Desktop (2018.3).
Finally, will Parameter Actions ever be an integral part of Tableau, as the new Set Actions are? It's super useful, but it seems rather clunky to have it as a special feature treated differently from similar Tableau-native features.
Thanks and regards,
1. The fix for extensions in Reader will come in 2019.1. But, you can download the Beta today from https://prerelease.tableau.com/ and try it out with your own workbooks!
2. Are you saying the extension is already configured and the message that is momentarily shown while loading your settings is shown for too long?
3. Native parameter actions were announced during TC18 but will not be released for a while, you can read about it here: Spotted at #TC18 Devs on Stage: vector maps, a redesigned mobile app, parameter and set actions, and Sasquatch | Tableau….
Thanks very much, Keshia.
Regarding #2, sometimes it comes up in a "Needs Attention" state (red gear symbol) upon loading the workbook for maybe a couple of minutes, but then turns black. Either way, once I click on the gear it can take an extremely long time to load the configuration options, but that's probably more related to my data set than anything else.
Thanks for the link on the future improvements!
Hi keshia Rose,
Data driven parameter is not loading in tableau desktop 2018.3
can u help me in doing this.
What do you see when you load the extension? Is it asking for a parameter? Make sure you have a Tableau parameter that allows all values. if this isn't the case please feel free to open a new question for your issue.
