1. Yes, that is correct
2. Under the Worksheet menu, there is an item "Describe Sheet". If you have two measures with the same name from different data sources, this dialog box should show that.
3. You can right-click on field name in the left window, there is an item "Describe". This will list the original name of the field.
I would highly recommend getting a copy of Power Tools for Tableau (by Interworks), which is reasonably priced (in my opinion) and will give you an Excel report with all these kinds of things listed in one place. It is much easier than using Tableau to figure it out. I couldn't do my job without it.
