# create a population percentage map

I have a Designated Market Area (DMA) data that has the necessary information to create maps. It has population field. To map the population I have to take not sum but max or average of the population because in each DMA there are many lat-lon rows, which are the vertices of the polygon, and the population of that DMA is repeated many times. So to take a single value for each DMA, I used max(population) in the attached workbook. The issue I have now is I could not calculate the percentage of USA population in each DMA. Any help appreciated.

Like This?

You Need this Calc to Calculate Max Population Per Group and then Divide it SUM of Max Populations per group.

Thanks

Thank you very much. LOD did not come to my mind. Since a single DMA can have a couple of separated areas (identified by group in the data), I did the calculation based on DMA and it gives correct result (I checked the result with what I got from R). Change the LOD expression and I will accept your answer as correct answer.

Do you want mw to accept your answer? Is so, please make the change so that it becomes a correct answer to the question. What you have done is not by DMA. It is by group ( one DMA can have a couple of group IDs).
