Plot single point (from a filter) on an unfiltered bar chart

Assuming we are using the Superstore data, and I have plotted average sales per month. I want to see how much one individual sale was, visualized as a black dot at the appropriate hight on the appropriate bar.

I want to select the individual sale from a dropdown list; which would probably be made by a filter.

How would I do this? When I try to filter on  "Order ID", it filters ALL of the data in the visualization. I only want the filter to apply to the part of the visualization which renders the black dot.

I've made an example by plotting avg sales by month, taking a screenshot, and adding a black dot manually.

      (using Tableau Desktop 2018.2)
