TITLE: Strategies Employed and Lessons Learned from Revamping Goodwill’s Data Analytics System and Adopting Tableau
SESSION DESCRIPTION: Are you and your organization considering updating your current data systems but wondering what steps to take and pitfalls to avoid? In this session, Travis Rutledge will discuss Goodwill’s Data Analytics Initiative, a five year project to update the organization’s global data analytics system from the ground up. This will include exploring the problems of their previous system, the solutions they decided upon, the strategies and approach they took, and the lessons learned from implementation over the past three years. Strategies employed and lessons learned regarding Tableau training and adoption will especially be explored. Be prepared to engage in discussion and ask questions!
BIOGRAPHY: Travis Rutledge serves as a Senior Business Intelligence Developer and Analyst for Goodwill Industries International. Travis leads Goodwill’s data visualization capacity building programs and develops dashboards and reports for team members using Tableau and Excel. Prior to working for Goodwill, Travis served as a Monitoring and Evaluation Fellow with International Justice Mission, where he conducted research on the impact of anti-*** trafficking programs in the Philippines and Cambodia. Travis earned his Masters in Public Affairs from the University of Texas in Austin in 2013 and his Bachelors in Business Management from Texas A&M University in 2010.
