# Making an 18 month Year over year comparison

Hey guys, I have a data set.

Set 1: January 2016 - june 2017

Set 2: January 2017 - June 2018

Set 3: January 2018 - June 2019

When I try to do a month analysis aka show all 3 lines on 1 graph, colored by year, january-december it doubles up on the months that have double data. Set 1 January 2017 and set 2 January 2017. The way I countered this was just to display 12 months of data but im being asked to figure out how to do a full 18 month comparison. I was wondering if I could extend it so it goes january  - december - june all on one axis.

Please let me know if something can be done! Thank you. I have attached a test data workbook.

Could you please give an example where you see "doubling" of data. I dont see anything like that

When I do a month comparison. It sums up January 2017 data with January 2017 data. Since there is January 2017 data in the 2016-2017 data and January 2017 in the 2017-2018 data.

Женя, привет,

Я не совсем понял, какой результат ты хочешь получить. Поэтому отправляю два варианта. Скорее всего тебе нужен последний. В нем при помощи pivot объединяются данные по метрикам в одну колонку.

См. вложение.

Trust this helps.

Hey Nitin and David,

A little off on both marks.

What I want is those couple of months more so there are 18 months on the x axis.

When I plot test123 it plots 12 months because I effectively cut off 6 months of data, but I would like that to show. I can do a year over year on 1 graph when I plot by Year/Month, but I want them all on 1 18 month axis.

Attached is another workbook.

did you mean something like this:

The one you had shown above will aggregate values at month level as you didnt consider year in them
