I'm trying to develop the most efficient pathway for getting data from an Oracle Server to manipulations/displays in Tableau. I see a few different pathways to achieve this:
Oracle --> Scripts in Oracle to manipulate/refine data into a table that needs minimal work --> connect to Oracle in Tableau Desktop --> load tables
Oracle --> connect to Tableau Desktop --> write initial SQL to manipulate/refine data --> write custom SQL to further manipulate/refine? --> load tables
I'm not sure what the smartest/best pathway is for this, as there's multiple ways to achieve the end goal of presentation in Tableau Desktop/Server.
Any advice would be much appreciate.
what I believe is the best way for you is make all the things in Oracle and just connect to Tableau Desktop after do that.
With this, you will make sure that all the informations was maked in Oracle.
