Using Custom Date Ranges to Graph Data

    Alex Weis

      Hi -

I am new to using Tableau, so I am not sure how embarrassingly naive my question may be. Here is what I am trying to do:

I have a data set that has several thousand transactions. One of the data points included for every transaction is the sale date.

I am trying to create a graph to organize the data (in part) by year and quarter. Here is the thing: our quarters are not the traditional quarters (January 1st to March 31st), instead the quarters go from December 15th to March 15th, March 15th to June 15th, etc. How can I do this on Tableau? It would be super straight forward if I was using traditional quarters (I would use Year and Quarter as "Columns") and other measures as "Rows".

I would love some help with this. I have tried many different ways, and Googled the issue several times, but I can't find the solution.

      Thank you!

      Alex
