Thanks for updating your post! If you upgrade Tableau Server, and VizAlerts was working fine before and now is not, it almost always indicates a problem with Tableau Server. VizAlerts, besides being great for data-driven notifications and report-bursting, also serves as a fantastic system validator. It routinely exercises a large number of Tableau Server components--gateway, repository, VizQL, possibly Data Server / Hyper. So when there is a problem with our own Tableau Server instance, we typically know it first because of VizAlerts.

We found out that we had a defective windows patch : KB4338815 that may cause this error, as mentioned in this article :
