# Show Obligation at Max Date

Morning All,

My project is trying to show the state of a contract for my company.  In this part of my project I am trying to show the obligation amount at the Max transaction date.  I got the Max transaction date via a LOD calculation.  The problem is that when I add in the Obligation Amount, it is summing the entire column, not at the row level where the obligation amount = max date.

Attached is a workbook with made up data as I can't show you the real thing.

Scott

Thanks

Deepak

Hi Scott,

Depends on what you want to display...if you need to see all values, then the below approach will work, otherwise if single row then Deepak's solution will work:

Wow!  You all are amazing and I am grateful for your help!

So let me add this to my question:

Eventually I want to transition this to a bar chart showing the current sum of obligations for an organization, like this:

Does that change your opinion of what the best solution is or is not?

Hi Scott,

Create calculation like below

{FIXED [ORG]:MAX(DATE FIELD)}=DATEFIELD

drag this calculated field to filter --> Select True

for every org --> Max date obligation amount will show as bar

Replace the date field : Transaction Date

hope this helps kindly mark this answer as correct/helpful so that it will help others

In My Calc, Just add One More Dimernsion, I am assuming that you have different Orgs under each Contarct

{ FIXED Contract, ORG :SUM(IF {FIXED  Contract, ORG:MAX(Transaction Date)}=Transaction Date THEN Obligation Amount END)}

If You have Just Orgs, Then Use This:

{ FIXED ORG :SUM(IF {FIXED  ORG:MAX(Transaction Date)}=Transaction Date THEN Obligation Amount END)}
