# Split a field and add into different fields

hello all!

after extensive researching, i havent found a solution yet.

so my issue is as follows:

i have a table that looks like this, with value as a measure and category is a dimension

categoryvalue
a10
b20
c30

so i need to split b into two parts 90% of the value and 10% of the value

now we add the 10% value of b to c and 90% value of b to a

so the final table would Need to look like this:

Categoryvalue
a10+18
c30+2

HI Kaumudi,

You can try below approach:

1. 10% of b = if [Category]='b' then [Value]*.1 END

2. 90% of b = if [Category]='b' then [Value]*.9 END

3. new value

IF [Category]='a' then [Value]+{MAX([90% of b])}

ELSEIF [Category]='c' then [Value]+{MAX([10% of b ])}END

Hallo Meenu!

thnak you for the reply! it certainly does help my issue although the MAX function seems to calculate weird values instead of the assigned values.

would this be by any Chance because i have Groups on my Dimension?
