    Dropdown/scroll down tool

    henry watson

Hi, I am trying to create something where when I click on a dropdown list, (like the screenshot below)

I want to create a Worksheet where the data changes (when a different piece of data is selected in the scroll down list) in the selected boxes rather than a standard graph (like the screenshot below). Is there any way to do this?

Hi, is no one able to help me with this at all?

I don't quite understand what you're looking for. Can you clarify what happens after you select an item in the dropdown?

Hi Ken. To simplify things a bit;  I now just want it to show a Pie chart when a data item in the scroll down is selected. So for simple example, the drop down may have different types of fruit and when one is selected (say a pear) a pie chart showing the amount of ripe pears to unripe pears in a field. And then when a different fruit (say an apple) is selected, it has different data so it's own Pie Chart would appear? Is this possible?

Yes, that can be done. Would you be able to provide a small sample of your data as its structure will determine how you would create this.

Hi Ken, I have a copy of my workbook below

                  https://public.tableau.com/views/Basketballers/Sheet1?:embed=y&:display_count=yes&publish=yes

I cant attached the excel sheet, so here is a little example of what I'm working with below. I have many sheets (players) within the excel file

                  Player: Hakeem Olujuwon

Further to the post above, this is what I am getting in the screenshot below (if you are not able to open my Tableau worksheet).

As I said before, i would like to create a scroll-down so when a player is selected, the Pie Chart changes to the relevant data set of that player. Rather than having multiple pie charts on the same page.  If you are able to help me with this is would be tremendous! Thanks.

                        Do the following:

                        1) Right-click on Sheet and select "Show Filter". The filter will appear at the right.

                        2) Click the down arrow/menu at the top of the filter and select "Single Value Dropdown".

You'll now have a single-select dropdown menu that will allow you to select only one player at a time.

                        See attached workbook.
