# How to calculate elasticity per Months

Hello,

I hope I can get some help from the Tableau community.

Basically, I would like to calculate the elasticity of some of my products, meaning that, I would like to know what is the reaction of the Demand side when I offer more products of a certain type, in comparison with the previous month.

You can see bellow a table the describes my database:

Product IDDateQuantity Offered# of OrdersElasticity MoM
1Jan1020-
1Feb2030(30-20)/(20-10)
1Mar2525(25-30)/(25-20)
2Jan510-
2Feb1030(30-10)/(10-5)

The ultimate idea is to see on a chart the evolution of my demand according with the supply that I'm offering and see what is the optimal point.

Thank you for helping me!

Hope you have an amazing day!

Hi Goncalo,

You can try below logic:

1. previous # of orders : LOOKUP(SUM([# of Orders]),-1)

2. previous quantity : LOOKUP(SUM([Quantity Offered]),-1)

3. Elasticity MoM : (SUM([# of Orders])-[previous # of orders]) / (SUM([Quantity Offered])-[previous quantity])
