# Heat Maps for multiple dimensions

Hi,

As attached in the image, I am looking to create a heat map with multiple dimensions. For every colour a logic is written on the right side.

So for example. if GC < 1.5 then Red, if GC between 1.5 and 2 then orange, if GC > 2 then Green.

Also there is categorical column  AC  for which condition is, if Regular then green, SMA 1 then orange, if SMA2 or NPA then red.

Similarly logic is written for all dimensions. I only want 3 colours Red, Green,Orange for all dimensions.

Is there a way to do it in Tableau? I tried few options, but not able to write different conditions for different dimensions.

Hi, Amit

Please find my solution by using place holder and dual axis as shown below, I take AC and GC as example

Hope this helps, and let me know if you have question

Hi ZZ,

This is what I precisely want. But am not able to replicate it. I didn't really understand what you did. Can you explain me how to go about it?

Also I want only 1 AC column, here in the example you showed it has 2 one with colour and one without.

Hi ZZ,

Can you please explain me the process of how you did it. Unable to replicate it.

Thanks.

I am not able to replicate the same. I didn't understand actually how it was done.

Is it possible for you to explain the process.

Thanks.

Hi Tushar,

Not able to access this site as there is restriction in our company.

Hi Amit,

Idea is to create dummy placeholders depending on the measures you want display in the view and use dual axis to merge color coding and values. For each measure, you need to have to two placeholders. One holds color based on a condition and other displays text. You can customize each placeholder using the marks card. Finally you combine using dual axis to get a single view.

Hope that gives you some idea.

Hi, Amit

1st, create placeholders for measures as shown below

2nd, create dual axis

3rd set up 1st measure as gantt chart as below as well as settings for axis

4th, adding color and text to the measure

5th, repeat the same as above for other measures.

Hope this helps

Hi ZZ,

Thanks a lot for such a detailed explanation.

Just a suggestion. I tried using only 1 placeholder for 1 dimension and it did work.

But thanks again!!!!

And sorry for the late reply!!!

No worries, the reason why I put two is to display AC on the top
