Do you have an example workbook or maybe a screenshot to show what is going on? I am guessing this is a data limitation but need to better understand what is going on.
I am having the exact same issue that I don't remember being an issue before.
I'm afraid I can't attach the workbook as the data is under licence. Here are a couple of screenshots. In this table, in the desktop version I can sort using one click on the sort icon for any of the columns.
When I try to do the same when published online, I cannot use the one click sort and have to click on the entire column to get the sort box to pop up (hovering does not work), even though I see the sort icon above each column.
This never used to happen and is making my dashboards pretty unusable. Any help appreciated.
it seems Tableau has deliberately done this.
button, that appears when hovering on top of the column, does not work the same as earlier in Tableau 2018.2.
- Tableau Desktop 2018.2
With version 2018.2 Tableau released the widely requested "Nested Sort
" option, as detailed in section "Create a nested sort
" in Tableau Online Help: Sort Data in a Visualization
The old sorting behaviour is not lost. It has been moved to the sort options that appear in the pop-up including "Keep Only
" and "Exclude
". See the picture below:
thanks Tableau. The hover function does not work on my dashboards and is total ****.
