# % of Appearances in Period

I'm looking to calculate the percentage of appearances of a variable in a time period. I attach a workbook as an example.

Using the sheet share as an example, and the viz in tooltip. I have made a chart of week to week points of top 15 products sold each day for the month of January. Hovering over the blue point in December 31, 2017 for a second, we see the average rank of those products and how often they appear at that rank. For example, Apple1 appears at Rank 1 for 2 of the days in that week.

Is there a way of showing the percentage of days observed where this appears? E.g. 2 divided by 7 = 28%.

Many thanks.

hi Eoghan,

Could be over-simplifying it here...but I've just added a "/7" to the SUM([Number of Records]) and changed the formatting to percentage. As the Line chart is at the week level, it will always be /7 days.

Hope that helps, but let me know if this wont work for you

Hi Simon,

Sorry for my delayed response, and thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately that won't work as my ultimate file has flexibility to change date hierarchy (I decided to use a viz in tooltip as a compromise and that seemed to work well).

So I think the potential issue would be that you might not have a entry for every day, so we (probably) can just use a FIXED LoD to count the number of days each week/month.

In the attached I've created a way to move from week (always 7 days) to month (variable number of days). Hope that makes sense (on the Days per Month tab you can see how I've computed the number of days each month)

Hope that helps

Thanks very much Simon, that's very helpful. That's just what I need.
