Working with tdsx in Tableau Prep

I am currently using Tableau prep to join snapshots of data which are downloaded periodically as .tdsx files from the server. Currently my workflow is to unzip the .tdsx files, extract the .hyper extracts, and union these in Tableau Prep. Unfortunately by unzipping and using the .hyper files the field names and calculated fields are lost and I have to add a step to rename/recalculate them. Is there a better way of doing this? Ideally I would like to be able to use the tdsx files as data sources in Prep, but this doesn't seem to be an option.
