# How to make this chart ??

Hi Community,

I was going through a couple of visualizations images and came across this image. Could someone please explain how this visualization was made ? I was thinking more along the lines of a reverse funnel chart. Is there a better way ?

It's more about images than data, don't let the axis and the labels fool you

You reminded me! You mean it is just a simple  bar chart  after changing the shape of bar?

No, I'm meaning it's just an image that looks like an axis, with an image that is the shape of some buildings on top, with some numbers on the top of that.

So how would you go about making this visualization ??

Say the Data set looked like

Name           Height

Building1     1800

Building2     1500

Building3     1200

I am not sure if this is how the data set is structured but for the sake of convenience lets assume it is ?

Hi ,

This chart is created by 1) droping your dimension to color ;  and drop the same dimension to size also ; plot it across your required measure.

Actually, thinking about this overnight, you could do it in Tableau by creating polygons and using a background map.  Not very flexible, but it's a fairly simple viz.

Thank you for posting the workbook Shinichiro. I am still trying to work out the logic behind the track field and the height and text calculation, but this helps a lot. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Other manual approach is creating transparent building shape overlaying simple bar chart.

This does not bring dynamic height though.
