Creating a Calculated Field to display the nth character of another

    Stephen Coxley

I'm working with a large amount of data based on a product being manufactured and need to create a filter based on a specific identifier within one of the fields.

      • Every line has a unique 18 digit identifier similar to the above
      • The 10th character, in this case 'J', tells me in what year this particular unit was manufactured
      • I can't look up based on the character itself, as in this case 'J' appears more than once in the string

I want to create a field where i can quickly identify which units are from which year. To do this i want to create a calculated or lookup field that will only show me the 10th character of this string

Is there any easy way to do this?
