Your idea is good but i have few questions for you.
Are there any common fields between the spreadsheets that you are trying to combine?
Are you joining or trying to blend the data?
Thanks a lot for the response. The data is from two separate spreadsheets so I think they must be blended I'm afraid I'm still working on understanding the difference between blending and joining).
One spreadsheet is where non-conformances are raised and the other where they are closed, so many of the fields are common (project ID, location, type of non-conformance etc.).

If many of the fields are common then i suggest please go for joins instead of blending.
Join the spreadsheets on multiple common fields.
Thanks Kumar, that worked, and resolved something I was confused about - I had a very large output previously which I suppose is because the blended data wasn't well mapped.
