Fix 'Entire View' causes text colour change?

    Will Stuart-Jones

I'm running TD 10.5.2 on Mac.

I've created a cross-tab report 'text' and 'square' marks set for the 'measure' objects - this is the worksheet:

As soon as I drop it into a dashboard and choose 'Fit -> Entire View' the text changes from being either black or white (depending on the colouring of the squares) and instead only shows as:

Is this a feature or a bug and is there anything (simple) I can do to resolve this?

          HI Will,

As long as I know, it's feature based on the height.

This is 2018.1 version as reference.

It's "automatic" setting, and no workaround as long as I know.

This is standard functionality and something that you want .... or maybe not in your case

The text is changing to white because Tableau detects that there's not enough contrast between the background (a dark colour) and the text (also a dark colour) so changes the text to white.  If the cell size is too small, it can't do this calculation so the text is black.

            Here are some small cells:

If I make the cells about 2 pixels taller I get this:

The only thing I changed in the sheet was the cell height.

If you want to force the text to be always black, just change the text colour:

Then click on Font and choose the colour and it will be fixed on that colour.
