Please try this Knowledge Base article: Converting Degrees/Minutes/Seconds Coordinates to Decimal Degrees | Tableau Software If this resolves your issue, please mark this response as correct so that others can find it useful in the future. Thx, Don
That's correct that your data format is different than what the article shows; however, (and I don't currently see a way around this for you by a single calc) it also requires that your data be SPLIT into the various measures in order for that solution to work. You would need to split your existing data into the proper buckets of time, then recombine them per the KB article.
There are other online tools that can batch convert your data into decimal, i.e., D-M-S to Deci. Degrees . Hope that helps! Thx, Don
Shelby, you could also do this in Tableau Prep (which is a part of your maintenance) to break out the Degrees, Minutes, Seconds then recombine in Tableau Desktop. I've attached a sample Flow from Tableau Prep and .TDE files and below is a screenshot of the output.
These are dummy Lat/Lon BTW, so I'm not sure that they're at all useable on a map - just numbers I plugged in to give you an idea as to how to do this:
You'd then need to use the aforementioned KB article to recombine them into useable Lat/Lon in Tableau Desktop data pane.
This information was all helpful! Thank you so much
