I am looking for ways to read dbf files using tableau and encountered the following problem.
I created a ODBC connection using dBASE driver, selected the directory where the dbf I want to load is. In tableau I chose that ODBC as DSN. I can see the tables correctly but once dropping tables in, there is error message (see image) :
"An error occurred while communicating with Other Databases (ODBC).
Unable to connect to the server. Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.
[Microsoft][ODBC dBASE Driver]Optional feature not implemented
The table "my table" does not exist."
Any village elderlies may be able to guide me to what went wrong? I am fairly new to ODBC connection stuff so apology if my terminology is off. Any help is appreciated.
dBase?? Wow, haven't run into that one in a while!
I think there may be a setting on the ODBC connection that you need to set. Look for something referencing "ExtendedFieldsInfo". See the following discussion for some further details: ODBC dbase Optional feature not implemented - Devart Forums
