    How to customize Tableau Desktop's SQL Server Connection String

    ayden.atharifar

      Hello

      In Tableau Desktop, I would like to point my connection to the listener (aka the failover) prod server and not the actual transaction prod server.

      Local Admin asked me to add the following script to the connection strings of all my dashboards in Tableau Desktop.

      multisubnetfailover=true;ApplicationIntent=ReadOnly

      I did paste that script within the "Initial SQL..." page on the pop up Data Source window of Tableau where we define the server and the database; when clicked on Sign In, it comes up with an error. I do not think this is the right place to add this script.

      Where should I add that Script?

      I do publish these dashboards on the Tableau server; will the dashboards shared on the Tableau server carry the scrips and run from the failover servers too?

      Thanks for your help.
