If VizAlerts is able to send any emails at all, I'm confused as to how you'd be getting this error. This error generally means that your SMTP server doesn't support SSL, so your config/vizalerts.yaml file should use the setting smtp.ssl: false.
But like I said, it would be weird that you'd be able to send some emails with VizAlerts, and others you wouldn't--your SMTP server either supports SSL, or it doesn't, so everything should either succeed, or fail. Are you sure the succeeding emails aren't coming from some other source? Also, what version of VizAlerts are you using?
I am on the latest version of vizalerts on Server version 10.5
Yea, I also thought it was very strange that all of my alerts work with the exception of one view in one workbook.
I have tried playing with the ssl setting. If I turn it to false, all alerts stop working. I am pretty sure that I have to use it with the SMTP server that I am using.
Makes sense that you would, and should use SSL. Doesn't really help solve the issue though, unfortunately. Some more troubleshooting ideas:
- Can you try altering workbook so that you remove all customizations in it? Start with the most basic VizAlert--no Email fields at at all, and see if it works.
- Confirm that the instance of VizAlerts running this problematic alert is the same instance running those that work by checking the logs--do all alerts show up in the same log? Anything else in the logs that seems odd or wrong?
