# Rank by measure without viz

Hi,

I am trying to calculate a rank that works without a viz.

my dataset look like that (but way larger):

Product ID     Price

1                    45€

2                    50€

3                    30€

4                    20€

5                    60€

I need a calculated field so that each product has its own value. In the dataset above it would look like this:

Product ID     Price     Rank

1                    45€          3

2                    50€          2

3                    30€          4

4                    20€          5

5                    60€          1

I need them without viz because I only need the rank to run further calcs with it.

Hi Alexander,

1. Create caluleted field Rank [AVG(Prize)]

2. Put Measure Names into Columns and Product ID into rows

3. Choose table from "Show me"

4. Edit Table calculations by rank pill and click table down

Hi Alex

As I understand your question you want to know the rank of the product sales but don't to show the table in the viz?

Rank is a table calculation and it needs an underlying table that includes product ID - so the short answer is if Product ID is not in the underlying table for the view then you can't rank it - i.e. you can't "fix" a rank created in one view and use it another view

Agreed with Jim, But you can Add Product ID to Details instead of view to get that.

Thanks

Yes what I am aiming at is to get the rank where 1 indicates the largest price, 2 the second largest and so on.

I only need them to sum the  products price with rank 1-10 , 11-20, 21-30 and so on.

is there no work-around?
