# Customer satisfaction survey monthly score average

I’m working on customer satisfaction survey data and I’m looking for a calculation gives me the average score for each service by month (see the below because I have sensitive data and can not share)if I have a question on the survey to rate from 1 to 5 a specific service how I get the monthly score average. Please note I'm using Tableau 2018.1.

Hi

see the attached workbook

I have done some customer sat analysis with a couple of clients and they have different views on how to calculate satisfaction

the attached uses a weighted average approach where the sat rating is the weight ( 1 low 5 high)

first I loaded the data - pivoted it and converted the header to an actual date

the weighing formula is Note this not aggregated -

then I calculated the weighted average 2 ways - each yields the same answer

first using lod formulas

next using window - sum a table calculation

they each yield the same answer

but if you use the lod you can just include the totals is a summary

Jim

Note als if you are doing the same calculation for a number of service use the LOD and change like this

{ FIXED [date form pivot names],[Service]:(sum([weighted scor]))}/

{ FIXED [date form pivot names],[service] :(sum([Pivot Field Values]))}
