I am brand new to Tableau and Tableau Prep.
I have a question about preparing two data sources.
I have two tables of data with a common field of data. Although the data is the same (name and date of birth) it is not entered identically (ex: John Smith 01/01/2000 vs Smith, John 01/01/2000). How can I prep my data so these two fields can a common identifier between the tables? Can I use a fuzzy match algorithm? Other?
Hi Susan,
I'm not 100% sure what you are looking for, but in Tableau Prep first prepare each table by splitting them into date and name dimensions, then bring them together should do the trick.
This will give you a common date and name dimensions and a single data source.
