# LOD to calculate compounding interest

Hey guys, I found some problem when I try to calculate the compounding interest with using level of detail.

I can't think of a way to use LOD to replace table calculation for it.

Plus, because the filter will influence the consequence of table calculation so I need to find a solution not influence by filter

If anyone can help I would be grateful to you! Thanks.

Hi, Bill

Can you provide a sample workbook with mock up data?

Hi, Zhouyi Zhang,

Thanks for replying. This is the data I am working with.

As you can see from the data. The interest is growing first and then remain a constant in the rest year.

I used table calculation to compute the compounding interest but when I need to create a set to filter the "year" dimension, because the calculation is using table(down), it would turn out to be a wrong answer.

That's why I am trying to use LOD to replace the calculation, but I just can't think of the formula.

Do you have any idea? I need some inspirations...

Dear Ritesh,

Here's my .twbx file. Thanks for reminding.

Here it is. If you need to Filter, The Filter has been added to CONTEXT for filtering.

I used this data from here

Thanks

Deepak

Hope it Helps.

Hi Deepak,

Thank you for your help. and it's the right calculation for a total amount of the compounding interest.

But in this case, I need to calculate the yearly compounding interest due and show it. And the data I have is the yearly interest payable.(You can check on my twbx. file above)

Hi, Bill

I guess you want to filter the year but keep the table calculation, if yes, please see my calculation for year filter, which convert the year filter as table calculation as well in this case.

Hope this helps

Hi Zhouyi Zhang,

Thanks for your information. I have seen this formula before but still thanks!

I guess there is no formula to use LOD to calculate the yearly compounding interest

The table calculation with still be affected by "action" in the dashboard when you want to show the highlight of the yearly interest in a graph.

Or is there any method to make the table calculation not affected by "action"?
