# Trying to group parameters together

Hi All,

I have workbook with data of 3 students and their respective scores in 3 subjects.

I have 3 parameters, Student View 1, Student View 2, and Student View 3. I want to compare the data generated from Student View 1 and 2 vs Student View 3.

First sheet has data from first two views. Second sheet has data from 3rd view.

I want to be able to create a cross table that shows the subjects and marks of students in Student View 1 and 2  vs marks of students in student view 2.

Row = subjects of Student View 1 and 2

Columns = subject of Student View 3

and the cells will be the marks.

I hope that makes sense. I have attached the tableau packaged wb.

Hi John,

I would suggest to solve this problem applying the following steps:

1) pivot values (you data should be well structured in order easier your life)

2) create the following calculated field using LOD:

a)

{ FIXED [Subject], [Pivot Field Names]:SUM(

IF [Student] = [Student View 1] OR [Student] = [Student View 2]

THEN [Pivot Field Values]

END)}

b)

{ FIXED [Subject], [Pivot Field Names]:SUM(

IF [Student] = [Student View 3]

THEN [Pivot Field Values]

END)}

This will give a corresponding constant figures for reflecting your selection in parameters.

3) Apply all mentioned to the worksheet.

Done.

Trust this helps.
