I looked at your data - do you have something that would tie back to a geo filed like county or zip that could be used to use as an identifier for north and south.
It could be something on the customer master that could be joined to the sales data

I can bring in the Zip codes but that would only be available for the customers in CA
that information won't be available for customers in other states
would that still work?

I would group the CA counties into two groups and call the No Cal and So Cal. Show these groups on one axis of the map and show the customer locations on the second axis. Alternatively, you could create a custom map in Mapbox and bring that in as your background map which would give you the ability to still have both axes for plotting data.
