    Server Upgrade from 10.0 to 10.4 with low hardware setup

      Hi All,

      I am new to tableau,

      we want to upgrade server from 10.0 to 10.4/10.5 . below is the current hardware configuration ( i know this is low configuration ) . but any one have any suggestions /experience on this type of configuration. Please do let me know at the earliest.

       

      1. Installed Tableau Version: 10.0
      2. Server Bit: 64-bit
      3. Processor: 4 Core
      4. RAM: 16 GB
      5. free Disk space on installed drive: 40 GB
      6. Authentication Mode: AD
      7. Users : 130
      8. Concurrent users : not more than 10
      9. Environment  : Production
      10. Installed Tableau Server Processess : 1 on every process

          Hi Ramesh,

           

          This is indeed pretty low and considering the amount of users you will definitely have performances issues... However it should work in any case.

           

          I would suggest going to 10.4.7 with this configuration. When you get the chance to upgrade your hardware you can go to 10.5 or 2018.1 which uses the new hyper engine.

           

          I would avoid having to many scheduled tasks / extracts refreshes. Also avoid having too many complex viz which require computing power.
