Apologies if this question has already been answered in the documentation or the community - I was unable to find a clear, explicit answer in either place.
Our Tableau Server (and Desktop, fwiw) installation is currently at version 10.3. My goal is to upgrade to 2018.1. Are intermediate release upgrades (namely, 10.4 and 10.5) required before upgrading to 2018.1, or can I apply the 2018.1 upgrade process directly to our existing installation? I understand that in general, versions are installed alongside one another, but I'm concerned that there may be changes to shared resources or the data model itself that are cumulative.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
No - It isn't necessary to do the step changes, unless Tableau explicitly state in their upgrade documentation (and I've never seen such a statement yet).
Just make sure you read the provided documentation Upgrade and ideally trial the process on a DEV / TEST instance before upgrading your PROD server.
