Parameter in SQL Query Error - ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis

I'm trying to add a date parameter into a SQL connection to an Oracle DB, but as soon as I replace the hard-coded part with the param, I get the "Oracle database error 907: ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis" error message.

I assume the parameter value should be literally injected into the SQL statement as a string. Here's the hard-coded SQL statement:

           to_timestamp('2018-01-01 00:00:00.000', 'YYYY-MM-DD:HH24:MI:SS.FF')

      which is changed to:

           to_timestamp('<Parameters.Parameter 1> 00:00:00.000', 'YYYY-MM-DD:HH24:MI:SS.FF')

"Parameter 1" type is DATE with the initial value of "2018-01-01" and the exact same format. Also, I tried replacing < ' > with < " >, but no luck.

      Any ideas? Thanks!
