How to combine two rows in a graph?

I'm working on data from a google form, and for some reason, Google added a space in front of some responses and not in front of others. I end up with the same answer being split into two: " answer" and "answer".

As you can see here, lines 3 and 4 are the same, and lines 5 and 6 as well but they are split, which creates a misrepresentation. I would like to merge lines 3 and 4 and lines 5 and 6 so that the results are added up. Any idea on how  I could do that?

      Thank you in advance!

PS: I tried to change the alias to put the same (so maybe then it could count it as the same?) but it didn't work.
